Rob founded the firm and has led it as Managing Partner since its inception. He practices tax planning, business planning and tax representation, and he has represented clients in the U.S. Tax Court with a particular emphasis on Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act family limited partnership matters, including TEFRA and CPAR litigation and audits. A structure drawn by someone who has had to defend one is drawn differently.
Alongside the business practice he has built one of the most respected estate planning practices in the greater Scottsdale area, advising high net worth individuals and families on estate planning and complex tax issues, and assisting families and their closely held businesses with succession planning. Before founding the firm he served as chairman and president of a national bank holding company and as chief executive of a national bank for over eight years, and before any of it he served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret during the Vietnam War.

Grant’s practice is the strategic design, implementation and defense of sophisticated strategies for transferring ownership of family businesses and legacy properties to succeeding generations or to charitable organizations, with an emphasis on estate plans that protect and maximize wealth while minimizing transfer taxes.
He is particularly skilled at integrating a business strategy with a personal estate plan so that the two are one plan rather than two files that never meet. Like his father, he brings federal tax litigation experience to the planning table, with a particular emphasis on TEFRA family limited partnership matters.
He holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Business and Communications from Arizona State University, his Juris Doctor from Phoenix School of Law, where he served as an Honor Court Judge and President of Delta Theta Phi and was recognized as Most Outstanding Student, and a post-doctoral LL.M. in Estate Planning and Elder Law from Western New England University School of Law.
He chaired the State Bar of Arizona’s Tax Law Section for 2024–2025 and served as President of the Scottsdale Bar Association in the same year.

Tax Law Section, State Bar of Arizona
The State Bar’s section for tax practitioners. Its Executive Council sets the section’s agenda and the Chair presides over it. Grant took every seat on the way, from Member at Large in 2020 to Chair in 2024, and served as Immediate Past Chair through 2026.

Scottsdale Bar Association
The bar association for the city this firm practices in. Grant sat on its executive committee for six consecutive years, as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, President and Immediate Past President.

Central Arizona Estate Planning Council
A multi-disciplinary council of approximately 200 Arizona professionals in law, accounting, insurance, investment, trust and valuation, founded in the 1960s and recognized as a 5 Star Council by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. Grant served as Secretary, Vice President, President and Past President.
Three rooms, three heads of table. For the 2024 to 2025 year the same attorney presided over the State Bar of Arizona’s tax section and over the Scottsdale Bar Association at once, having already led the estate planning council. These are offices of the profession, held by the vote of the practitioners who sit in them.
