Important Information Relating to our
Billable Rates & Fees

NOTICE OF 2026 BILLABLE RATES:

As part of our commitment to transparency and thoughtful differentiation within the legal industry, we are providing advance notice of our firm wide billable rates for 2026.

We believe clients are best served when fee structures are clear and communicated proactively. For your convenience, our 2026 rate schedule is provided below.

All firm rates are reviewed and adjusted annually and take effect at the beginning of each calendar year. The rates set forth below are effective January 1, 2026, and will supersede all prior or current rates.

Our 2026 rate adjustments reflect the impact of U.S. inflation and the ongoing investment required to maintain the quality, responsiveness, and technical depth of our legal services, while preserving a balanced and sustainable approach to our practice.

If you have any questions regarding this update or would like to discuss how these changes may affect your matters, please feel free to contact us at your convenience.

– STEVEN A. BLOOM, J.D., M.B.A., LL.M. – $650 / HOUR

COSTS:

In addition to the hourly rate or fixed fee, clients are responsible for certain customary costs incurred by the firm in rendering its services. These may include notary fees, witness fees, storage fees, long-distance telephone charges, recording fees, FedEx charges, extra copy binder charges ($45.00 per EP binder), postage charges, photocopy charges (at $0.15 per page for color and $0.08 per page for black and white), facsimile transmission charges, bank fees, and governmental filing fees. This list includes common examples but is not exhaustive.

The client is responsible for all actual out-of-pocket costs incurred on their behalf, even if a fixed fee is charged.

As operational costs rise and inflation impacts our services, we transparently pass these traditional expenses directly to you rather than incorporating them into our legal fees. These costs may include notary, witness, FedEx, recording, and other third-party expenses incurred by the firm. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to maintain competitive legal fees.

Some commonly incurred costs, which are in addition to the hourly rate and fixed fee, include (fees are estimates and may not apply):

– Mobile Notary Fee $100.00
– Recording Documents in Arizona $30.00 / instrument
– Outside Witness Fee $50.00*
– FedEx / Shipping $25.00-$45.00**

*We will make every effort to provide witnesses from our office staff or attorneys. However, due to workload demands, we may not always have in-house witnesses available. In such cases, we will secure a third-party witness, and you will be responsible for their fee.

**Shipping fees vary depending on the destination. To expedite the process, we may charge an estimated shipping fee and send a final invoice at the time of notification. If we charge an estimated fee for FedEx, any surplus or deficiency will not be refunded or billed.

AFTER-HOURS SURCHARGE:

Activities conducted outside regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) will incur an additional hourly surcharge equivalent to 50% of the attorney or staff member’s normal hourly rate, in addition to the standard hourly rate. This surcharge applies to all fixed fee matters and is supplementary to the fixed fee amount. Text messaging, phone calls, emails or any activity outside these hours will be subject to the charge.

Need us after-hours, on weekends, or at the crack of dawn?  Here is how it looks (2026):

– ROBERT W. BOLAND, JR., J.D., LL.M. – $1,050 / HOUR
– STEVEN A. BLOOM, J.D., M.B.A., LL.M. – $975 / HOUR
– GRANT M. BOLAND, J.D., LL.M. – $690 / HOUR
– STAFF – $225 – $112.50 / HOUR.

After-hours surcharges are implemented to account for the additional demands placed on our attorneys and staff outside of regular business hours. It’s important to understand that such activities encroach upon their personal time, affecting their ability to spend time with family and impacting their overall quality of life. We believe in maintaining a healthy work-life balance for our team members and strive to minimize after-hours work whenever possible. Your understanding and cooperation in respecting our team’s personal time are greatly appreciated.

EXPEDITED REQUESTS SURCHARGES:

Our law firm prioritizes private client service, which demands extraordinary customer care, advanced knowledge, and extensive connections within the community to provide a superior client experience. With our commitment to delivering exceptional service, it’s common for our firm and attorneys to encounter emergencies, last-minute real estate closings, urgent business deals, incapacity, and even the unfortunate event of death among our clients and their families. These high-stakes situations often involve influential families, leading to heightened drama and complexity. While we recognize the necessity of immediate attention to such emergencies and urgent business dealings, it’s important to understand that unscheduled requests significantly impact the firm. These demands add stress to our team and may detrimentally affect other clients, as we may need to reallocate resources from their matters to address urgent needs. To accommodate these requests, surcharges and fees will absolutely be applied to reflect the additional time and resources required. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in navigating these challenges together.

Start TimeSurcharge Rate (Percentage of Normal Hourly Rate)Minimum Fee

Within 2 Days75%$12,000
Within 3 Days50%$10,000
Within 7 Days25%$7,000

Clients are subject to both the percentage-based surcharge and the corresponding fee for expedited start times. In this case start means how long before the attorney starts working on the matter and not how long it takes to finish it. These fees are in addition to any normal fees that would be incurred. All new request for work, matters, or activity on a file require a minimum fourteen (14) calendar days of lead time and notice to our firm to avoid any surcharges described above.

Please note that not all requests can be expedited or accommodated. All requests must be vetted by the attorney ahead of time and made in writing. Additionally, any fixed fee and estimated costs must be paid before any work begins.

BILLABLE INCREMENTS:

All hourly rates shall increase by ten percent (10.0%) automatically on the first day of the calendar year unless otherwise notified in writing or as provided and disclosed on our website at https://bolandlawgroup.com/rates/.

Hourly services will be billed in minimum increments of 0.1 (1/10th) of an hour for all activities unless described differently in the schedule below. Depending on the nature and urgency of the service, we may need to block bill for consecutive events, rounding up to the nearest 0.1 (1/10th) increment. We may block bill as recording separate billable entries may not be the best use of time or resources. Additionally, non-legal staff such as clerks, secretaries, and administrative assistants may be utilized to assist you and the attorneys, billed out at rates ranging from $75.00 to $150.00 per hour.

As discussed, hourly services will be billed in minimum increments of 0.1 (1/10th) of an hour for all activities, except for the following activities below, which will be billed in minimum increments as follows:

ActivityMinimum Increment / Hour
Telephone Calls0.2
Draft Correspondence0.2
Draft Emails0.1
Review of Incoming Mail & Emails0.1
Court Appearances & Activity1.0

This table outlines the minimum billing increments per hour for various activities. Please be aware that documenting files, transcribing notes, and other necessary activities to update records are essential for accurate tracking of our interactions. These tasks may require additional time beyond the duration of the conversation itself. Additionally, it’s important to note that the actual time spent on these activities may differ from the billable time recorded.

MISSED APPOINTMENTS AND CANCELLATION POLICY:

When you book your appointment, you are reserving a space on our calendar that becomes unavailable to other clients. To be considerate of your fellow clients, we kindly ask that you contact our offices as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment.

If cancellation becomes necessary, we request that you notify us at least seventy-two (72) hours in advance. Our appointments are in high demand, and your advanced notice will enable us to offer the appointment slot to another client.

A cancellation is deemed late if made less than seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled appointment time. A no-show occurs when a client misses an appointment without prior cancellation. In either case, we reserve the right to charge the attorney’s hourly rate for the hour, along with any associated costs (e.g., witnesses, notaries, paper costs, and time spent updating documents).

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with our cancellation policy.
